Drug Abuse Survey with Confirmation, Urine

USEFUL FOR:

Detecting drug abuse involving alcohol, amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, marijuana, opiates, and phencyclidine(PCP).
This test is intended to be used in a setting where the test resultscan be used definitively to make a diagnosis.
Some drug treatment programs do not require confirmatory testingof screen-positive specimens. In those settings, #8248 "Drug AbuseSurvey, Urine" is a less costly option.

SPECIMEN REQUIRED:

30 mL from a random urine collection. No preservative. No specimensubstitutions. No STATS are accepted for the procedure. Send specimen refrigerated in a plastic, 60-mL urine bottle. For situations where chain-of-custody is required, a Chain-of-Custody Kit (Supply T282) is available. CLINICAL INFORMATION:

#9446 "Drug Abuse Survey with Confirmation, Urine" was designedto test for and confirm the most common classes of drugs of abuse.  The test uses chromatographic and immunologic testing for drugsby class.

CLINICAL INTERPRETATION:

A positive result indicates that the patient has used the drug(s) detected in the recent past. See "Quick Reference Guide" in Special Instructions for estimated windows of detection (the length of time after last use that drug may be present in the urine). See individual tests (eg, #8257 "Amphetamines, Urine") for more information.

Creatinine and specific gravity are measured as indicators of specimen dilution.
